MEET THE TUTOR

Gina Diaz of Peninsula Spanish

Gina Díaz-Ochinero is the founder of Peninsula Spanish. After many years of teaching Spanish at the best private schools and universities, she now wants to create her own space to support  students learning Spanish as a foreign language.

Gina has experienced firsthand the best Spanish language program curricula in private schools.  This experience gives her a unique  understanding of students' current academic demands. As a Spanish native speaker, Gina’s teaching philosophy rests on the notion that language goes beyond the classroom and students can become truly bilingual when offered the right support  and have access to the right resources.

Peninsula Spanish has an extensive library with culturally authentic and age appropriate materials to help develop and enhance students’ four areas of language learning: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. By coming here for extra support, students will be able to reinforce what they previously learned, and they will get the extra practice to develop a strong grammatical foundation that foments the constant need for communication.

Peninsula Spanish is a concept that emerges from my childhood games. My mother, who was a teacher, had a big blackboard with chalk in the back room of our house. One of my favorite games was gathering my friends and playing “la escuelita” (the little school). Peninsula Spanish in a way is an extension of la escuelita.
